Alarm Relay does not seem to click, even when swapped out with another relay of the same color, so I'm just going to assume its not even getting power, also my radar detector does not fully power on.....clock fades in, etc. Attempted to jump and got no-where.

The Question
In today's society, we try to protect our children by teaching them about 'stranger danger.' In particular, it is often emphasized never to follow a stranger, no matter how friendly they may appear. Despite this attempt to educate children, why is it that many strangers are able to lure them away? Is there an effective method to stop child molesters?

An Account as an Example
Oftentimes, a stranger is very cunning and preys on the child's innocence and eagerness to help someone in need. I myself, as a child, was lured by a stranger early one Sunday morning. That day, at age nine, I became one of the many rape victims that are so prevalent in our society today. At the time, I was throwing papers on a route I worked with my sister. The following is an account of that event:

From out of nowhere, a man approached as soon as Mary had disappeared.

"Have you seen a cat?" he asked.

"No," I quickly replied.

"Could you help me find my cat?"

"Well, I must finish my route, and I need to tell my sister where I'm going," I told him.

"It'll only take a few minutes. She won't even know you are gone."

I thought for a second, realizing he was probably right, and besides, my parents taught me to help others. I did not even question how his cat got loose. As far as I was concerned, he was out so early in the morning, amid the darkness, because he was looking for his cat that had run away.

I remember wondering at the time whether I had seen him before. He looked somewhat familiar. Anyway, I believed he was one of my customers, and so I followed him to assist him in locating his cat. After all, he said we would just be a minute.

When the man first came up to me, I had been standing next to our basket, grabbing some papers. I left the basket in the street, assuming Mary would stroll out any minute to continue, and I would be back, in just a second, to join her. I walked with the man toward Prescott Avenue, where we turned right and proceeded toward Holland Avenue, which was one block over in the opposite direction from Lemmon Avenue. However, we did not go that far.

He told me to follow him into the alley between Bowser and Holland. It was twilight now, and the alley had an eerie feel to it. It was not peculiar for me to enter the alley; Mary and I often trekked through the alley on our way to the local 7-Eleven. Several houses down, we came to a dwelling that looked recognizable. Yes, I thought; we threw papers to this house. I had never seen the back of the house though.

There was a large vegetable garden growing in the yard. The vegetables came right up to a flimsy chicken-wire fence. Standing there, I wondered if this guy was the son of the lady who lived there. Whenever we went collecting, we never got a good look at him. Still, I was not sure.

"My cat's in the vegetable garden. I saw him over there. Can you crawl under the fence and get him?" He pointed to a section of the garden where some plants were growing close to the house. As he spoke, he fidgeted with the bottom of the fence, as if trying to make room for me to crawl under it. "Here kitty, kitty," he called.

As I drew closer, he suddenly changed his mind and said, "Oh no, he's not here. I think he ran down the alley." I was somewhat relieved, because I thought I would cut myself as I wiggled under the narrow, sharp fence. I had nothing to protect my legs or arms. I was wearing a white, short-sleeved, cotton blouse that buttoned in the front, a pair of old, faded red shorts, and a pair of worn tennis shoes.

He now looked back in the direction from which we had just traveled. He stood and started moving back towards Prescott, coaxing me to follow. He was out in front of me, but he periodically looked over his shoulder to make sure I was following him. He crossed Prescott and advanced into the alley on the other side of the street, moving towards Hawthorne Avenue. It was at this point that I became hesitant. "I think my sister's going to get mad at me. I better get back," I said as we trekked along.

"Oh, I saw him run right up here, and I know we can find him quickly," he said as he pointed straight ahead. He seemed to hoof it much faster now. As he paced along, I fell behind, vacillating about whether to abandon the search. We crossed Hawthorne Avenue. All I could think about was getting back to Mary. We had been gone more than a few moments. How long could this take?

A Warning from Inside
As you read my account of walking with the man who later raped me, did you notice that I had become hesitant and alarmed at one point? What is not revealed above is that I was actually 'unnerved' even before the man approached me. That little voice inside of me had been telling me that there was danger. However, I did not recognize the voice.

A Possible Effective Danger Safety Training Method for Children to Avoid 'Stranger Danger'
I have since discovered that the voice was my intuition: the spirit of God within me. Since God is everywhere, that spirit is within each of you and can be accessed at any time. Why is it that I did not recognize the voice? The answer lies in the fact that I was never trained to listen to my gut instincts. Had I listened to that voice, I may have never been raped.

It is important to teach our children to avoid strangers. However, as statistics have shown, that is not enough: children are still being lured away. When we teach children to avoid strangers, oftentimes they are simply frightened by everyone. However, if another approach is taken, this can be avoided. Might a solution lie in the knowledge that each of us is already equipped with our own 'radar detector' to guide us away from danger? Perhaps, the most effective tool in protecting our children is teaching them how to enhance their own innate intuition, and then LISTEN to the spirit and ACT.

Oh, no. Too fast. You're motioned to pull over. You pull over and watch as people slow down to watch, probably thinking they're glad it wasn't them. After receiving your ticket, you swear you're going to buy one of those gadgets that sound an alarm that there is one in use up ahead.

This is where it gets tricky. You're going to need a real modern one if you want to avoid this happening again and one you can afford. Times have changed since the old ones used radio waves as a means of detection. Today's laser guns are much more efficient and harder to detect. Today there seems to be a vast selection of popular detectors to buy. Listen, you can always send this baby back for a new updates, but the even buying a brand new one, it's probably the same components as the first one which is still just as effective.

Now most people are usually upstanding citizens and follow the letter of the law, but I don't know too many people who haven't been stopped for speeding, including me, so the easiest thing to do is pay attention to how you're driving. I couldn't be happier with this radar detector. I think for the money, it does a great job in detecting all forms of radar. For the short time I've been using it, the detector has alerted me to police with radar....wherever they are hiding. I have to say a word about the user friendly features on this thing. It won't drive you batty with false warnings. There are plenty of high end radar detectors out there (the Valentine One is considered one of the best detectors on the market, yet is notorious for giving false alerts) crying wolf. I knew one person who got so upset over this that he threw his detector out the window. He's been happy ever since. I've spent many hours looking at the top review/testing radar sites on the web, and all of them said that the Cobra 9860 is one of the top models for not giving false alerts. The exception is with X radar signals from micowaves. No radar system can eliminate these. But this one does an incredible job doing it. So if you're driving and you hear it go off with a signal strength over 3 bars, you can take it seriously. Another cool feature is the smart mute; it detects the RPM on your car so if you're stopped, the X radar signals that go off occasionaly will not bother you. I believe this has to be the MOST user friendly radar detector out there...it allows you to enjoy it that much more. A word on laser, NO radar detector out there can give you total immunity against it. If you hear different, they are full of it. The explanation is simple, if a cop chooses your car and no other ahead of you, by the time the laser beam hits the front of your car..YOU'RE DEAD! The Valentine 1 and Passport 8500 are the best at only alerting you if they detect a laser being used on cars ahead of you. The Cobra 9860 doesn't do as good a job as they do, but if the laser is close enough to your car, then it will go off. So if you're concerned about the laser end of it, spend the extra -300 to get one of the 2 I mentioned. Luckily, police don't use laser on the freeways in the southwest, so I don't have to worry about it. The 2 signals that are used are K and Ka. You can't go wrong with this detector. Hope this helps!

The CX-7 isn't a race car, after all): -White 2007 CX-7 GT AWD w/ Tech -Corksport Power Series TBE -20"x8.5 Enkei RAZR -255/45/20 Spec-x -AEM SRI -Autoexe Strut Tower Bar -Forge BPV Useless mods (some of which aren't even mods at all): -Turbo badge under the CX-7 at the back -NEO iPod adaptor (which works great with my iphone 3G) -V1 Radar detector (probably saved me like $5000 and some jail time) Like the title says, it was about 90 degrees outside and HUMID. We all know there are stock TMIC issues (Will be getting aftermarket ETS intercooler soon) so please be gentle with your comments about the 0-60 :) If you listen closely, you can hear the intake and the blowout valve, but the exhaust... I'm not sure. It's really obvious to me since I'm actually there in the cabin and all, but without a camera with good low frequency response, I fear that you can not actually tell ...

Is It Worth It To Invest In A Radar Detector? What Is A Laser Detector? What Is A VG-2 Device?

As many of you know a radar detector allows a driver to know that the police is nearby. It operates on wave bands or frequencies. There are primarily three bands: X, K, and Ka. X operates on 10.525 GHZ. K is a little higher at 24.150 GHZ. And the highest Ka, at 33.400- 36.00 GHZ. Why the three bands? An electronic war between the police and radar producers!

When X band came out, use by the police, radar companies produced X band detectors. The police then went with a higher frequency device, namely K band. The war went on until the police finally ' up the ante ' by going laser. The laser focuses a narrow light beam. Actually the correct term for laser is Lidar, which stands for light detection and ranging.

The question is, "is it worth it"? Only if you purchase a detector that has both radar and laser capabilities. They tend to be much more expensive than standard radar detectors. They are worth it though! If you avoided a ticket the unit pays for itself. And with high insurance rates on the rise, well you understand.

What's a VG-2? It's a detector used by the police to detect your radar detector. Why? Some states have banned radar detectors. They don't want you to know that they are lurking. Read on!

Here's the truth. Those states that ban radar detectors are actually violating federal law! If you ever receive a ticket for having a radar detector, fight it in court. There is a little known law, obviously unknown to many states or ignored by states that give you the right to own a detector. The Law: The communications act of 1934. It guarantees any citizen the right to receive radio tranmission on any frequency!

If you are driving through a state that doesn't allow it, simple purchase a detector that's capable of detecting a VG-2 unit nearby. YES, the radar companies have did it again ! There are now detectors that can detect ALL bands, including laser and VG-2. After your detector warns you of a VG-2 device nearby, simply take your detector off the dashboard.

I'm not suggesting to anyone to break any speeding laws. I'm just simply advising any driver about the dynamics of radar and laser technology.
