Police Radar Certification What is it and Why is it Required?

Plainly put, a traffic radar certification is a certificate of accuracy of the particular radar. Electronic component values usually change their value over time due to age and other environmental factors. This change in value can cause the overall speed calculations to be wrong. Radars made today use improved components and do not exhibit errors related to component value drift. But these newer components still exhibit some variance necessitating the need for continued certifications.

A radar certification is commonly performed by a third party who has no affiliation with the law enforcement agency. Should a motorist take his speeding violation to court, it is in the proper interest of the agency to have a radar certification from an independent company. Should a speeding offense make it to court, the certification agency is usually summoned to attest regarding the operation of the radar that was used to write the speeding citation. Usually the defendant tries to get the certification agency to comment on the guilt or innocense of the offence when they really only can comment on the radar accuracy.

The elements of a complete radar certification or radar calibration include:

Transmitter Frequency Check

The microwave transmitter emits the high frequency towards the target vehicle. This frequency must remain in the range as specified by the manufacturer. Due to high frequencies of these transmitters, highly-sophisticated equipment must be used to measure their output.

Receiver (Antenna(s)) Check

The antennas receive the reflected microwave frequency and compare it to the emitted frequency to create a frequency-difference. To simulate a reflected signal, a known frequency is emitted into the antennas. If the radar unit displays the correct speed, the antennas are accurate.

Radar Functional Check

Other than these two tests, a complete test should be performed on the counter. This includes making sure all displays and indicators are functional, insuring the audio is working and that it will successfully perform its own self-test. If the radar has a malfunction, the issue must be resolved prior to certification. If a repair is required the certification company may be able to do the radar repair as well.

Local government usually requires speed detection equipment be certified on a repeated schedule. The frequency of certification is generally each year. In general, all electronic equipment used for testing should be tested for accuracy each year. Thus, not only should the radar device be checked for accuracy but the equipment used to test the radar should remain accurate also. The radar test equipment should have accuracy traceability back to NIST (National Institute for Standards and Testing). Therefore, it could be said that radar certified by such test equipment is precise to NIST standards.

Why Everyone Should Own a Radar Detector

Radar detectors are very controversial these days. However, they are growing in popularity and more people own radar detectors today than ever before. Let's take a look at some reasons to own a radar detector.

I wish I could say I never speed, but that's just not the case. Actually, there are very few people who can say they never speed. This is such a face-paced life we live; always on the go and late getting there. So let's be as safe as possible. While most people think radar detectors are only for detecting speed traps, they can actually serve as a safety tool. While my mind is on a dozen other things (I know, I should be thinking about my driving...) my speed goes unchecked. Then, alas, my radar detector beeps and brings my attention back to the serious matter of my driving speed. Hopefully, it has alerted me soon enough to avoid a speeding ticket.

We've all seen the sneaky cops who hide behind bushes, just over the hill, around the curve at the bottom of the hill, or behind those bridge abutments. Don't you just grit your teeth when you see that! So why not have your own line of defense? Bear in mind there are a few states that do not allow the use of radar detectors, so be sure to check with your state before purchasing a radar detector. You can be sure the cost of a radar detector is far less than the cost of speeding tickets. Then there's the factor of increased insurance premiums - ouch! And that's a long-term expense!

Do you do a lot of driving for your job or career? Once again, you need to be in a dozen different places an hour ago, so you're driving like mad to get there. How many tickets can you get before you lose your job? How many tickets can you get before your insurance goes through the roof, once again putting your job at jeopardy? It just makes good sense to use a radar detector whenever you're on the road. If you can't help yourself from speeding, then at least use a tool to help protect your driving record and job security.

So, you've decided to purchase a radar detector - now what? There are some important considerations when purchasing a radar detector. For instance, band detection (which detects the range of police radar devises), distance to detection, ability to jam the signal, pricing, even where they are manufactured. So it's important to do your homework. Here are some tips to help you along:

1.  First of all, are they legal in your state - you could face large fines and even confiscation of your unit. The best way to find out is to contact your Secretary of State or local law enforcement office. If you live in Virginia or District of Columbia, don't bother - they're illegal in these areas. If you drive a commercial vehicle, don't bother - they're illegal for use in commercial vehicles, as well as on military bases and most Canadian provinces.

2.  How much do you want to spend? Remember the old saying, "You get what you pay for." That being said, the most expensive radar detector is not necessarily the best one for you. So give some thought to the features you are looking for, which leads us to tip # 3.

3.  There are a lot of radar detectors on the market with a lot of features, such as range, sensitivity, visual alerts, audio alerts, false alarm control, etc. Basically, there are three different types of radar detectors on the market: (A) corded, which are usually mounted on the windshield in the vicinity of your rear view mirror and offer the best range of detection; (B) cordless, which are more transportable and are easier to install, and (C) remote-mount radar detectors which are permanently mounted to your vehicle and are undetectable to thieves.

4.  So what features do you need? Of course, this goes back to your budget - the more features, the more it's going to cost you. At a minimum:

Your radar detector should have a wide band and can pick up the entire X, K, and Ka band. And by the way, you will want different indicators for each one of these bands including a separate flash or beep for each band.
You want your radar detector to have at least 110 dB.
Do you like the appearance of the display - Is it clear and large enough to see it?
You will most likely want a mute feature and volume control, as well.

Now that you know what features to look for, what type of radar detector do you want that fits in the budget you have to work with. A lot of manufacturers will have an online comparison of their different makes, models and features. This will help you narrow down the manufacturer, and then consider purchasing your item from a reputable website specializing in radar detectors.

As I mentioned before, you usually get what you pay for, but if you keep with some of the more popular brands, such as Beltronics, Cobra, Escort, Rocky Mountain Radar, Valentine and Whistler, you should be just fine, as they usually offer a wide variety of product with a wide variety of features in all price ranges.

5.  Another consideration - are you going to install it yourself or have it professionally installed. Some radar detectors install as easily as plugging it into your cigarette lighter; others require direct wiring, etc. Most manufacturers offer installation guidelines and schematics for their products on their websites. If you aren't handy enough to install it yourself, most good electronics stores can point you to an auto electronics installation facility.

6. Probably the most important tip I can offer - BUYER BEWARE. As with any purchase, do your homework. Check the warranty and the small print. Can you return it if it's not the correct model for you. What if it's defective - can you return it for your money back or just an exchange or store credit? If you buy from an online store, be sure they are an authorized dealer; give them a call to be sure they're a real store; and, again, read the small print there as well.

Hope you find these tips helpful. Be safe, and have a great trip!

Are Radar Jammers Worth the Price to Pay?

For most people, driving the speed limit is just common sense. The safer you drive, the less likely you are to be in an accident. Unfortunately, not everyone feels that way. There are, and will always be, a select group of people who forget that highways are not international speedways.

For these people, avoiding a speeding ticket can be tricky. With the use of radar jammers, however, it is becoming increasingly common for them to avoid being caught. A radar detector jammer scrambles the signals emitted from detector radar devices, allowing the speeder to get away.

Radar jammers, as the name signifies, are compact devices used primarily to scramble detector radar signals, particularly those emanating from speed guns used by policemen. Now that you know, you'll probably ask, "Are they legal?" While purchase of a radar detector jammer is permissible by law, the now amended Communications Act of 1934 clearly stipulates that intentional use of a radar detector jammer will be construed as malicious interference.

Contravention of these laws can invite heavy fines and/or imprisonment. Before investing in a radar jamming unit, it would be advisable to first check state laws governing their ownership and use, as well as the models and types permitted. There are basically two types of car radar jamming devices available; active and passive.

Several models are available with approximately 90% of the models falling within the latter category. Active jammers constitute a mere 10%; however, it is important to note that this type is considered illegal by the US federal government since December 1997.

Since radar jammers are purchased for the purpose of avoiding a speeding ticket, it would only make sense that marketing and advertisements would try to emphasize their effectiveness. What they fail to mention, however, is that passive radar jamming units are only effective within about 100 feet from the speed gun.

Since most people are much farther away when their speeds are recorded, these models are just shy of useless. Illegal active devices are much more effective in preventing your speed from being detected; however, the result can easily be jail time and/or hefty fines, when the unit is discovered. Both active and passive radar detector jammer units can be purchased in today's market, especially online. Active jammers come with hefty price tags, sometimes exceeding $1,500.

So how are police fighting back against this technology? Many policemen and state patrol are now able to detect when radar jammers are being used, and are able to pull a driver over for this. Additionally, the speed guns used nowadays are extremely advanced and much more difficult to jam. For most, testing their unit's effectiveness by speeding past a state patrolman probably doesn't seem like the wisest option.

Where to Find Cheap Radar Detectors

Since radar detectors are generally expensive, some people prefer to buy cheap radar detectors. For manufacturers and dealers, cheap radar detectors are a promotional technique used to increase their sales. Customers are satisfied with cheap radar detectors because they provide the same quality and service as that of expensive, high-end models at a much lower price.

The price of cheap radar detectors generally depends on the category, installation, and type. Cordless radar detectors, traditional corded units, and remote mounted units are some of the types available. There are several sources to get cheap radar detectors. One of the best sources to find cheap radar detectors is stores offering products at discount rates. Many radar detector dealers, both stores and online, sell high quality radar detectors at discounts. These stores get products from the radar detector manufacturers at cheap prices. Generally, their aim is to increase sales by cutting on profit margins. Another popular option for cheap radar detectors is buying used ones. Classified ads, estate sales, and garage sales are among the sources where customers can get great deals on used radar detectors. Some stores even have a section exclusively for used radar detectors. Cheap radar detectors can also be bought from outlets or companies, who want to replace their existing models with the latest ones.

A cheap radar detector is not necessarily a high quality product. Hence, before purchasing a cheap radar detector, it is necessary to make a thorough research on cheap radar detectors available in the market. Quality, sensitivity and memory, display and volume, and brand name and model must be taken into consideration. It is always wise to buy cheap radar detectors sold by top brands like Beltronics, Cobra, and Whistler, as they offer some kind of warranty. Sometimes, manufacturers offer free shipping for cheap radar detectors on making a minimum purchase.

Top Three Tricks for Successful Research of A Radar Detector

The way to succeed is within the planning. For that, you should understand the required steps and what should be avoided. Being informed can give you a sure track to reaching your goals. The three useful suggestions in this article can make it easier for one to avoid problems and do well. Adopting the suggestions below will give you an advantage and increase the likelihood of your success.

When you know you like to drive fast, you will discover it is essential that you do things correctly. If you do not, the effects might be regrettable. You could find yourself with a warning, or maybe even a suspended license if you were driving extremely fast.

Here is a short checklist of approaches to staying focused and staying away from trouble.

1. Decide whether or not you need a radar detector.

You should probably figure out whether or not you want a laser detector. because it prevents speed traps, many believe they are vital. Failing to get this done can land you with an expensive ticket. Which means you should not make the big mistake of disregarding this valuable tip!

2. How much should you spend?

Pretty much as essential as deciding whether or not you need a laser detector, when you are working with the idea that you like to speed, is how much should you invest? (Or some people may say throw away). Understand clearly that this can be a critical point. It helps to know a price range of radar detectors, an issue that almost anyone trying to purchase a radar detector wants.

3. Understand the abilities of the detector.

Lastly, when knowing you like to speed, you'll want to be sure to understand the importance of the detector.. This could help with making the decision of how much money you want to spend, an essential part of researching a radar detector. Screwing up this could mean you buy a ineffective detector -- and I believe we could concur this would not be the best thing!

As I said initially, regarding the fact you like to drive fast,, you should avoid the kinds of mistakes that might lead to getting a warning, as well as arrested if you were driving extremely fast. Your ideal result is do some research and do not buy anything but the best, and you may get that result by closely pursuing the above ideas.

Buying a Radar Detector For Your Vehicle

It was not very long ago that the task of buying a radar detector was really a task. The options in the early days were extremely limited and they were often too expensive for the average person to buy. Today things are different. Most anyone can afford to purchase a detector and the devices available today do much more than their earlier cousins. At any rate, you will want to know as much as you can as a way to make an intelligent purchase if you are considering the option.

The truth is that while many drivers have detectors, lots more would probably own them if they understood more about them. In general terms, a radar detector is a device used by drivers to avoid getting caught speeding by law enforcement. If a driver is alerted to police presence by detecting their radar they can slow down and dodge an expensive citation. Usually avoiding a single ticket can pay for the detector.

Police have been using radar to catch speeding drivers for decades. They aim their device at a car traveling on the road and literally shoot a radar wave at it. This wave's properties when it bounces off the target and arrives back at the sending device is how they can determine the speed of the target. This is technology that has been around a long time and has been generating tickets for many years.

As the police became aware that drivers were using devices to detect their radar, they made changes to their system in an effort to prevent detection. Of course new detectors came out that combated the latest police technology. This has been a battle that has gone back and forth. As police develop new devices, drivers update their devices to combat the police.

Be certain you consult your local or state laws before purchasing a radar detector. Different states have differing laws and for that matter the laws vary from one country to the next. In some cases the user of a detector can be fined, and in some instances the police can even confiscate the device.

When considering your options for purchase, you will want to make certain you buy one that can potentially detect the newest devices being used by law enforcement. The newest ones will detect the laser systems some police are using, even though most are still using radar systems due to price issues. Many detectors can detect both radar and laser.

Buying a radar detector is now something most anyone can do since the prices are within reach for most, and they can certainly save the user lots of money in avoided tickets. Be sure you understand exactly what your device can detect, where is can be mounted, and be knowledgeable about any warranties in place for it too.

Are Radar Detectors Legal?

The answer is YES! Radar detectors are completely legal to use in the UK and evidence taken from a MORI poll between radar detector users and non-radar detector users concluded that people who own them are less likely to have an accident.

Radar Detectors have been designed to help you drive in the confines of today's ever changing speed limits. They are not a licence to speed. Always remember that speed limits have been set for the safety of all road users.
However, drivers should be made aware of the speed limit before they commit an offence. Speed traps are often set up where the speed limit is decreased, i.e. from 60 - 40mph or from a 50 - 30mph zone. Driving in today's congested traffic conditions, concentrating on the traffic around you means that it is easy to drive into a restricted zone without noticing the change in speed limits. Therefore advanced warning through radar detection could prevent you from driving dangerously (which is in everybody's interests). The Spanish have radar controlled traffic lights, if they sense you travelling above the speed limit the lights are changed against your favour, this is the best kind of instant incentive to drive within the speed limit, but then it doesn't raise much cash does it!

Radar detectors are legal in England but the law differs around the world.
The sale, purchase and installation of Snooper or Radarscout products is perfectly legal. The use of one until recently may have contravened the 1949 Wireless and Telegraphy Act but a judgement of the Queens Bench Divisional Court dated 29th January 1998 makes it clear that the use of Radar Detectors is not unlawful as has hitherto been claimed by some. In the past a few prosecutions have been brought by claiming the use of radar detectors was contrary to section 5(b)(i) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 as amended by section 3 of the Post Office Act 1969. However the Acts refer to the interception of wireless communications for the purpose of obtaining information as to the content, sender or addressee of any message. The Court concluded that the radar transmission was not communicating a 'message' and therefore equipment designed to detect the presence of the transmission could not decode any such message.

It was further stated that section 1(1) of the Act, which requires a licence for the reception of radio signals, has been superseded by the Wireless Telegraphy Apparatus (Receivers)(Exemption) Regulations (SI 1989 No123) which exempts radar detectors and similar equipment from the need for such licences.

This case is reported in The Times on Feb 18, 1998, page 41 under the heading "Radar speed guns do not send message". Unfortunately The Times now charges for access to its archives and we can no longer link to the full story but you can purchase the extract yourself here, it's about the 63rd article down the page. http://www.newsint-archive.co.uk/

Radar Detector Buyers Guide

Radar detector manufacturers are constantly playing a game of catch-up with new technologies designed to nab the lead-footed, some of the critical factors when buying a Radar Detector are :

False Alarms : The case when too many false alarms occur. If your Radar Detector constantly falses than you'll start to ignore it eventually - and then in a case of a real radar trap it will be too late.

x/k Radar Sensitivity : These frequencies have been used already in the 60 and 70, therefore the radar detectors manufacturers already know how to detect them from miles.

KA Radar Sensitivity : More expensive components are required for this type of frequency, most manufacturers prefer not to include this feature to save money on the development of the device.

Gatso Sensitivity: usually used in Speed Cameras, this the most widely used worldwide frequency - only very good K-Band sensitivity will help you here...

"Pop" Radar Technology : A relatively new instant-on technology that may make a whole generation of radar detectors obsolete. These radar guns operate at low frequency until they are switched on to determine a driver's speed with lightning-fast accuracy. This leaves a radar detector little opportunity to scan and detect the radar signal.

Pop radar may sound ominous, but a new crop of radar detectors offer Pop radar detection. Sometimes Pop detection is not enabled by default in the radar detector, however; users must turn it on in the settings menu.

Manufacturers probably chose to disable Pop detection by default because its increased sensitivity also increases false alerts. However, first-time radar detector users might be in for a surprise if they neglect to turn it on. Choose from a selection that includes cordless radar detector or laser jammer from Bel, Cobra, Escort, Rocky Mountain, and Phantom. Usually online merchants have great customer service policies as well as great deals on radar detectors.

How to Buy a Radar Detector

One of the simplest ways to avoid a speeding ticket apart from driving safely is to invest in a radar detector.  These are devices that can detect radar guns used by cops and alert you about their presence, so that you can control your speed before you get caught.  However, there are certain points you must keep in mind, before purchasing one.

The first thing you must check for in a radar detector is the bands it can detect.  While most radar guns use the Ka band, there are also those which use the X and the K band. Of late laser guns (which support the KU band) are also becoming popular.  Apart from this law enforcement agencies also the photo radar or the POP which uses low frequency radar to photograph your license plate. Therefore, a radar laser detector which can detect all these would be your best option (though it maybe a little expensive).  If you are on a budget look for a radar detector that can detect at least the three main bands i.e. the Ka, X and K.

The second most important consideration should be the range, generally the more the range the better it is. A radar detector with a wide range will alert you sooner so that you have more time to get your act together, however, wider range does comes at a price, so choose a detector that's the closest to your budget.

You must make sure that the radar detector has good battery back-up; you don't want to be caught off guard because your detector's battery went dead, right? Ideally you should buy one that comes with a spare rechargeable battery.

Once your three basic criteria have been met, you may also look for extra features like voice alerts, anti detector detection, different detection modes (to guard against false alarms) etc.

Finally, before buying a detector do make sure that it's not illegal to use one in your state.

Best Radar Detectors

The best radar detector is really a matter of which unit best suites each individuals needs. Everybody is looking for something different in a radar detector so the best radar detector will vary depending upon the individual. Let's begin with the type of driver who needs total protection and will do anything to refrain from making another mistake. If the individual has money to spend then they'll want to get the Cobra XRS R10G or the Escort 9500IX, these two units range from a little over $325 to over $400 but are just about the best on the market in terms of total protection. If you are on more of a budget then the Cobra 9960G is an absolutely great unit for the price of under $250. The radar detection capabilities are terrific on this unit and the laser detection abilities are good; in addition this detector comes with AURA a red light camera detection and a speed trap GPS database. A previous model to this unit that still works quite well is the Cobra XRS 9955.

If you are the type of driver that's just looking for a little more protection then the Whistler radar detector line can be found with great quality at quite low prices. The Whistler XTR 690, XTR 330, and DE 1788 are all good units with the Whistler line up at relatively low prices. The DE 1788 is a cordless unit in case you need your cigarette lighter for something else; the unit will need to be charged from time to time. Lastly, for those of you on tight budgets but still needing quality protection take a look at the few refurbished models Whistler has to offer. You can find a refurbished Whistler XTR 550 for right around $60 with shipping included, I believe that's about as low as you can go without sacrificing all quality.

Safety First - Mounting Devices to Your Car Windshield

What I am going to discuss is for the most part just common sense. However, some folks might not have considered it. When you jump in your car to travel with your radar laser detector or global positioning system, where you mount it on the windshield with suction cups is very important for safety and functionality. However, I want to concentrate on safety for the most part.

First, is it legal in your state to mount suction cup devices on your windshield? In both California and Minnesota, it's illegal to have any suction cup device mount to your windshield. OK, you don't live in either of those states. To properly mount your device, there are a couple of keys to having it remain mounted and in position. An accident could happen if the device came loose from the windshield while you are driving. It could distract your attention and result in an accident. To get the cups of your Garmin Nuvi GPS or other brand of global positioning system to remain in place, first make sure that the surface is clean. Most windshields if not cleaned regularly can develop a film on the inside, and this is enough to cause the device to come falling down in a short period of time. Next, you want to slightly moisten the contact surface of the suction cups. This will give you a good bound that will last your entire trip if done properly. I have heard that if you take a very small amount of Vaseline and coat the suction cups, and they will remain in place for a very long time. However, I have not tried it.

Secondly, you want to mount your navigator GPS or radar jammer in a proper location on the windshield. The last thing we want is for the device to obstruct our view while driving. Avoid mounting in proximity to the corner posts of your windshield. The corner posts are the vertical metal posts that are on both ends of your windshield and run from the roof to the lower body of your vehicle. If placed near these corner posts, your radar laser detector or global positioning system can create a blind spot. In most vehicles, there already exists a blind spot there, and we don't want to make it worst. SUVs are very prone to this. Mount your device in a position where it will not interfere with your view and be functional. In the case of a navigator GPS, it needs to "see" the sky in order to receive the signals from the satellites. For a laser radar, it needs to be where it has a clear view of both the front and the back views of the road. An ideal position for a detector is to mount it on the visor. However, the only drawback to this is that you need to "hardwire" the power source up to the visor. Most manufacturers of radar laser detectors have these as accessory kits, and they are relatively easy to do if you are handy with tools and wiring.

Please follow this advice when traveling with your global positioning system or radar laser detector for safety and functionality. You'll be safe on the road and your device will work as it was intended to. Have a great safe trip.

Valentine 1 outstanding detection

Driving home the other night I recorded my V1 picking up police Ka from well over a mile away. I drive past a shopping center next to which a car was pulled over with a cop running Ka. There are several X-bands getting picked up because of the shopping center hence the many arrows since I have all signals on for detection. As you can see as I pull away from the shopping center I lose the X-band signals and maintain the Ka for quite some time. I picked the cop up over a mile away, drove by, and continued to pick him up for at least a mile after passing him.

370Z Fast Intentions Exhaust

Fast Intentions catback on a 370Z, interior driving video so people can hear how it sounds. Obviously, the audio captured by the camera isn't exactly like real life, but it's close enough. This catback has the 18" resonator and CF muffler options. This is a 7AT car with many other bolt-ons (Headers, HFCs, long-tube CAI, UD pulley, etc). Please ignore the various rattling noises, those are the camera/mount and/or some interior stuff I need to fix up from my latest projects, nothing to do with the exhaust itself. Also notice I'm missing my radar detector at the moment too, hence the low speeds and extra cautious driving :)

Why The Valentine 1 Radar Detector Is The Best

The Valentine One radar detector picks up all radar bands. Not only that, but the Valentine One has superior range for greater action than any other greater effect on the market. Based on that alone, the V1 detector has proven itself to be a premium product in the speed detection and prevention industry.

While many claim the Valentine 1 is too expensive, the price tag of $420 is a very small investment when you truly understand the detection and protection you will have.

A Valentine One detector has been tested to pick up KA-band at up to 10 miles away. Given that most police radar guns choose KA band, it is safe to say that this detector will properly protect you if you are driving over the posted speed limit.

On top of that, it can also pick up laser, or lidar, at distances nearly one half of a mile away. Going along with picking up straight laser or lidar shot directly at your vehicle, the detector is one of the best at picking up laser scatter. Laser scatter is what happens when a police officer is shooting laser at another vehicle and the laser beam reflects and eventually hits your car or your detector alerting you that there is a threat ahead.

Most people think that the Valentine one can only pick up radar or laser on a straightaway road. However, that is completely untrue. The detector can pick up laser or radar over hills, around bends in the road, or in heavy traffic.

The Valentine One company has positioned themselves similar to the Porsche 911. The Porsche 911 has not changed the layout or the look of the vehicle in multiple decades. Similarly, the Valentine One has had upgraded software and hardware but never a design change. Doing this shows consumers that the company cares more about speed detection and threat prevention than the looks of their products.

Another Houston TX Speeding Operation

It's getting to where I could post one of these a week. HPD running another "spotter" car/chase car configuration. This crew was fairly liberal with they're citing of cross streets and landmarks so finding them was easy. Also, finally got the spotter car. Unmarked Dodge Charger. Big surprise.

Proof That Humans Have a Soul

The experiment is called Carpathia and it has had very interesting results. Carpathia takes place on the roof of a hospital where an array of equipment is set up. This equipment attempts to measure changes in energy levels and other abnormalities and matches them to a patient's time of death in the hospital below.

One part of the experiment involves a laser grid. Anything with mass will break the laser grid which also sets off an alarm. Numerous other types of detectors are also set up on the roof (radar, EMF, etc.)

The results of this experiment were that several laser beams broke with no visible obstruction, but one of the beam breaks included an increase in EMF readings and activated the radar detector.  The time of this event was later matched to a patient's death on the 3rdfloor. The event occurred just two minutes after the recorded time of death. Of course, more tests would need to be done, but if there is a measurable energy that seems to leave the body upon death then that tells us something. Here are the details of the Carpathia experiment:

What you are going to do is attempt to detect increased energy levels above a human body at the time of death (i.e. the soul rising out of the body.)  You can setup your equipment on a hospital roof.  The best case would be to get into the actual room, but I doubt that is going to happen. Here is the equipment list:

1) Lasers - that will sound an alarm if the beam is broken.

2) EMF and Radar detectors.

3) H2 surround sound microphone to determine the direction of any sounds recorded.

4) Any other kind of detectors you can think of.

These devices are laid out in a grid pattern above the patient's rooms. You will need to send someone down below to find out which patients are near death and focus your equipment in that area.

The goal is to match events on the roof with the time of death down below. For example, if things go crazy up on the roof at 1:30pm and you learn that a patient died down below at 1:28pm, then you may have discovered something huge. The H2 recorder will tell you from what direction any sounds come from. Take great care when conducting an experiment like this for obvious reasons.

Are Radar Detectors Illegal to Use in Your Vehicle?

Using a car radar detector is beneficial for many reasons as it can help to prevent a speeding ticket which can easily cost hundreds of dollars. However, there are many individuals that still do not make the purchase as they are afraid of getting caught with one. Fortunately, such devices are legal in some countries so you would just need to do your research ahead of time.

Some agencies are able to detect whether a radar detector is being used and can easily pull you over even if you were not breaking the law. Some brands such as Escort offer models that are immune to detection so these can especially come in handy if you are worried about getting caught. For the most part, such devices are legal in some cities and states across the United States.

In some cities of Virginia and also the District of Columbia, using radar detectors are illegal which can result in a fine or even confiscation if you are caught. Obviously you wouldn't want this to happen as these products cost several hundred dollars. As long as you careful about when and how you use it, you should be okay for the most part.

However, you should avoid using radar jammers as they are illegal to use for obvious reasons since they jam radar guns in the area. Getting caught with one can result in some serious legal consequences so it's best not to use one unless you know what you are doing. Instead of purchasing one, just consider slowing down as speeding can result in serious penalties.

Before you purchase a radar detector, just be sure to do more research to determine whether they are legal in your state or not. If you are still worried, then consider getting an Escort Passport 8500 which is immune to radar detection. Keep in mind that even if you buy one of these devices, you should still drive carefully as there are reasons why there is a speed limit across the country.

Radar Traffic Enforcement

Almost every motorist at some point gets a speeding citation which they feel was either unfairly or erroneously given. Yet motorists rarely fight these citations since the citing officer is also an officer of the court. In the eyes of the court, the officer's word is always golden yet the motorist's word is always suspect. Unfair speeding citations which result in fines and increased insurance rates are what drive motorists to purchase radar detectors. There are literally hundreds of radar detector models to chose from since the market is flooded with cheap import brand radar detectors which have poor performance. On the other hand the general consensus is that the products produced in North America by Bel, Escort, Whistler and Valentine perform extremely well. This still leaves a lot of good radar detector models to choose from.

Where can you go in order to read radar detector reviews or other types of speed surveillance countermeasures?

Speed Trap Hunter Forum is more of crossover forum between the radar detector and law enforcement industries, which is unusual since both industries tend to be at odds with each other.

Radar Detector Jammer Forum is both the most popular and oldest online enthusiast's forum about all types of speed measurement countermeasures. The forum was created by "Radar Roy" who is a retired law enforcement officer.

Guys of LIDAR provides a wealth of information and independent test reports for various radar detector and laser countermeasure products. Guys of LIDAR is a group of individuals who independently test products, yet refuse to accept any form of financial compensation or gifts from industry manufacturers.

Using Dropship to Buy and Sell Electronics and Other Products

As consumers, the Internet has given us unprecedented opportunities to shop for virtually all types of products from the comfort of our homes. Whether we're in the market for electronics or a new computer, jewelry or a handbag, or household items or toys, it only takes a few clicks of our mouse to find what we need. At the same time, one of the challenges of shopping online is the timeliness with which our orders are fulfilled.

The supply chain of online stores is such that they often stock inventory on an "as needed" basis. That means that if you order a radar detector, for example, the online store may not have it in stock. The store may have to wait for their radar detector supplier to ship it to the seller, who in turn must ship it to you. That can mean delays ranging from several days to several weeks.

Some online merchants, however, use what is called dropship. This means that when you place your order, it goes directly to the manufacturer or supplier. The manufacturer or supplier, in turn, ships the product directly to you. So if you ordered both electronics and toys from the same online merchant, for example, you would get two shipments: one from the electronics supplier and one from the toy manufacturer. One advantage of dropship is that it bypasses the middleman (the online merchant) and cuts down the time your order reaches your doorstep. Another advantage of dropship is that your order won't be held up by a backorder. In the example used above, your electronics will be shipped to you even though your toys may not be immediately available.

If you are an online merchant, dropship also offers a number of advantages. First, and most importantly, you don't have to stock inventory. This means that you don't have to rent space to store inventory, that you don't have to track inventory, and that you don't have to deal with the time and hassle of setting up a shipping department and shipping merchandise to your customers.

Dropship also allows you to sell a wide variety of products. Because you don't have to stock merchandise, and instead can rely upon suppliers and manufacturers to do order fulfillment for you, your online store can carry everything from jewelry and handbags to computers and household items. You'll never have to worry about how much of any particular item you need to order, and you'll never have to deal with excess inventory. Reliable dropshippers will fulfill your customers' orders quickly and efficiently, thus enhancing your reputation as an online seller.

Because online merchants who dropship don't have the overhead expenses incurred by merchants that carry inventory, they can pass along the costs savings to their customers. As a result, customers can get terrific bargains, often buying electronics and other items at near-wholesale prices.

Speeding Drivers Beware - New Speed Trap Device Being Tested!

Just when you thought the police had everything they could need to catch you speeding (radar, laser, VASCAR, photo) comes a revolutionary new concept that will change the way you drive forever.

The system, currently being tested by the University of Tennessee, determines your vehicle's speed by way of microphones (hidden on the side of the roads) which calculate speed by the sound of your car!

Yes, you heard right.

These devices filter all surrounding noise, leaving only the sound of your engine. Software then calculates the vehicle's speed by measuring the engine sound's Doppler shift - the change in a sound's pitch as its source moves past an observer.

The system can also measure the engine speed in rotations per minute by detecting the pulsing sound made by the pistons. You gotta love technology.

But there is one thing they haven't seemed to figure out... how to determine which car caused the high speed, so the device can then send information to an awaiting police officer down the road to pull over the suspect. However, something tells me they'll come up with a solution soon enough.

Right now, the device is in its initial stages of development. They've tested it by secretly hiding it in street signs along various roads in Tennessee. So far tests show the device is accurate within a few miles per hour.

No longer will you have peace of mind using your trusty radar detector. It will do absolutely nothing to warn you of this speed trap since the device emits no signal whatsoever.

We as motorists are going to have our hands full in the coming years, because this device is but one of several currently being developed to catch speeding drivers for the sole purpose of increasing revenue for the states. As if our tax dollars weren't enough!
