Passport Escort 8500 x50 radar detector false laser alerts

While driving home from school one day, I started to get false laser alerts for a long period of time. I don't know what this is about, but I was wondering if you guys could post some ideas? I did have it on a car splitter with a usb power outlet attached to it. Also my headlights were on, and the windshield wipers were at full speed, if that helps...
